I have 768 megs of ram too.

I was surprised when I installed and played Unreal yesterday!

I had iTunes, Mail, Safari, Acquisition and many other apps open too at the same time.

It played great, no slowdowns. I went with the defaults too.

Next time, I will reboot, and only play UT2004 and see just how high I can get the settings while still being playable.

This little PB rocks!

The default settings are really slow. Try running at native resolution with the details set to high or normal, then type STAT FPS in the console (press ~) and see what your Frames Per Ssecond is.

Just a little to lthe left on this thread.

What would you call the native resolution on a 15in PB. I think I have understood that my PB will play games (Halo, Unreal etc) faster in native res as the card does not have to use power converting the screen image but when I set HAlo to the nearest res to my screen it sits off the screen in the top right corner with most of the image missing????

switched2mac -
thanks for posting this... i was actually wondering about how ut2k4 would run on the 12" 1.33 with a decent amount of RAM. it's a small (but nagging) factor in deciding which powerbook to buy. are you running the demo, or the real game? how does it run in onslaught mode (the mode with the vehicles, etc.). i think i'm about to pull out the ol' credit card and seal the deal.

UT2004 will run the fastest on the 15" and 17" PowerBook because those two models have the Radeon 9700 Pro, which is superior to the graphics chip in the 12".

Native res for the 15" PB is 1280x854.

right on... i gathered that the 15" and 17" had the superior graphics card, but i was just wondering if the Rev C 12" (with the nVidia) could handle onslaught mode. actually, my friend came over today and answered that question for me. it can handle onsalught well with 768 Mb RAM. we tried it with 5 bots. no hiccups.
it's not a deal maker/killer for me, but every little bit helps.
