I am dead scared of my logic board dying like so many others. Is this something that happens after you do something? Can I prevent this, Will apple change my logic board without apple care for free? It has gotten me to decide to sell the iBook right away and either buy a higher end one with a better graphics card or buy a P.C. Now I rarely use my iBook(only computer) because in 2 days my iBook auction will end and I will not have to worry anymore.

Whatsup with this?

Yes, if your serial number is in the covered range they will fix it even if it is out of applecare. Had a friend who just had his board go bad and it was long out of warranty. Not only did they replace the logic board, but replaced the old combo drive with a new one just to be nice. $0 charge.

But if you are selling yours I guess its not really a problem for you anyway, right?

Why worry if it is going to go bad on you? Do you drive down the road worrying if you are going to get a flat tire? There are hazards on the road.

Apple will replace the logic board without apple care for free, but only if it has gone bad. Why worry if it is working? Why replace it if it is working?

Is your laptop even within the serial number range?

And why in the world would you trade your iBook for a PC???

Then worry not - you'd be covered if something showed up:

"For which computers is the Updated iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program available?

The program is available for iBooks with serial numbers in the following range(s):

UV220XXXXXX to UV342XXXXXX "

The X's are there in place of numbers that would actually be in the serial.
