Im looking to get a 15" powerbook with 128 mb of video memory, 1 stick of 512 ram, and everything else that comes with the superdrive model. are there any problem areas with the powerbook that i should look out for? are there many reports of dead pixels, parts that dont work, hardware/software failure? i was also unsure of what sleeve would be best for the powerbook as i want to be able to take my powerbook around in a backpack that i already have. as far as software is concerned, is there really a shortage of software for apple computers? this last question doesnt matter so much, but is there an mp3 ripper for apple similar to exact audio copy for windows, which allows you to use alt preset standard and use the LAME ripper? thanks for your replies

I recently picked up a 15" 1.5gig pb. No dead pixels or problems here. Looks like they've shaken out the problems with the uneven screen lighting issues (although it may be too soon for me to tell) and other issues.

I love the built in bluetooth and wifi is as good as my ibook. It's fast, quiet and definitely the best laptop I've ever used (I've owned Dell, IBM laptops as well)

Just in case, I picked up the applecare package for this.

As for sleeves, I like the Mitre Sleeve from Tom Bihn . Not bad at all for $30. This does assume that you have a briefcase or some other bag to throw it into.

We bought three PowerBooks in exactly the same configuration (see below) a week ago - we are amazed, no problems so far!

Here it is: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13048

There may be some issues with the most recent version of iTunes and this encoder, but the answer is yes!
