I have 15" AL book, 1.33ghz coming in soon, is it possible to install a backlit keyboard on it myself?

I'd love to say that anything is possible, and that we live in a world of unlimited opportunity... but, um, nope.

As an owner of a PB with a backlit keyboard: is it a cool-as-hell feature? Absolutely. Is it actually useful? Maybe 1 time in 200.

I honestly wouldn't bother jumping through the hoops (and cost!) needed to try and get someone to get all the parts needed (keyboard, light sensors).

No but a cheap workaround is the Kensington Flylight for about $5 Plugs into USB

The keyboard + connectors alone cost $430.

Take that into consideration.
