I did a search and nothing came related to mine sort of.

I am borrowing an iBook 800 mhz G3 from someone running X.3.4 and I hooked it up to a projector via the VGA dongle and it shows the correct display on the screen, but it also shows banding on the projector screen also.

I am a newbie at external displays setups so can someone enlighten me to how to get rid of the banding? Thanks.

Make sure the projector supports the resolution of the iBook. You may have to shrink the iBooks screen down to 800x600 to fit the projector's resolution. Adding a projector is just like adding another monitor, so you can go to the Monitors system prefs and play around. I've found that hitting the 'detect displays' button (if you have it) can help clear up external monitor issues.
