I got a really good deal on some PNY SODIMM 512mb pc2700 RAM.
My new iBook arrives in two days, and i'd like to install the new memory in in.
the box labels it as compatible with DDR 2700 (333MHz bus) *and* PC2100 (266MHz bus).

I've used PNY memory in a windows desktop machine before and had no problems.
should i anticipate any from the iBook? is PNY a reputable brand?

anyone have this particular brand installed already in a G4 iBook?

thanks,

rick

I've got that same stick of RAM in my PowerBook 12". I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Instead of opening a new thread, I have a question regarding installation.

As you can see, that's about the maximum I can push the module into the slot, yet it won't lock and more than half the pins still show up.

The red circle is where the lock on the lever, while the blue is the lock area on the module.

The guys at Crucial insist that this is the right module for my iBook G4.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

This happens all the time-it happened to me about three weeks ago when I added a 512MB module to my wife's iBook. The module will go farther into the socket if you let it, and that's the issue. Wiggle it a little, particularly with it at about a 40-45 degree angle to the socket, and it should just slide right in. You should not see much of the contact pins when the module is properly installed.
