How can I take video from a VHS and edit it, and combine video from Camera on PB "17?

I want to take a vhs tape, and take some stuff off of that and combine it with video from my camera, and maybe audio clips, and make into one movie. Can I use iMovie, or do I need another program? My main problem is pulling the video off the VHS.
