I am thinking of living in a foreign country for a little while.

I have an adaptor for that country, but I believe it is only supposed
to be used for a couple hours at a time.

Is there an adaptor that can be used for hours on end for a Powerbook?

you talking about the adaptor that goes into the battery?
look on apple's website for the world wide travel adaptor kit (something like that.) it has lots of those little plugs for pretty much every country.

i was in london recently and a while ago and i went to a shop there and for a few pounds i bought a cable that had the same plug as the power charger and that worked perfectly fine.

What you have is probably a stepdown transformer that will convert 220-240 volt power to 110-120 volts for American appliances. Those aren't supposed to be used for more than a few hours.

But PowerBook power adapters are designed to function on either 110-120 volts or 220-240 volts. If you have an older model, all you'll need is a plug adapter for the country you're going to. Apple does sell plugs for the newer powerbooks that connect right to the power adapter brick without need for a plug adapter.

At any rate, you can use your powerbook as long as you want under 220-240 volt power because of the way it's designed.

Person Man is right... so long as you have a plug adapter you should be good to go in any country that does 110-240. HOWEVER... if it's a slightly underdeveloped country, the reason you might want to rethink leaving it plugged in for periods of time is because of power fluctuations. The electricity in third world countries are pretty dirty, and fluctuate like crazy. If that's the case, you need to get a surge protector, and while you're at it, maybe an APC back up battery so that you have constant juice flowing through.... but only if you're going to a third world nation.

Yes, that is probably what I have a step down.

So, I guess I need one of those $5 plug converters?

P.S. The country is Korea.
