Okay, so all of a sudden today, after no new installs or anything, my screen brightness keeps flickering. It seems to do it without much of a pattern is what is even more annoying. You know the brightness buttons that are like 20 bars or something like that? It's like it's flickering back and forth 1-2 bars. It's annoying as, well, it's really annoying
So, here's my setup in case you think one of these is causing it, even though they've been fie up until now: FIrst, I have the dual monitor thing installed and have a second flatscreen monitor plugged in. I have the logitech wireless keybaord and mouse plugged in via USB, an external USB 2.0 hard drive, an external TDK firewire burner, and have an rca jack adapted and plugged into the headphone jack. I'm typically just running Mail, Safari, iTunes, and Notes. Um, I think that's it. Please, some people that know how these things work, help me out, because I have no clue about this stuff
Thanks!

It sounds like your ibook's backlight is on it's last leg, sorta like how florescent tubes flicker when they're about to go. If it's still under warranty I'd have that checked.
It could also be an inverter problem but I doubt that

Before I go that route, does anybody know anything about the software that adjusts the brightness as maybe that could be it?

Does it flicker if you boot up and hold down the option key? If so, it's hardware--not software, as there is no OS loaded when you are sitting at that screen.

Hot darn! I think I figured out what it was, and please, try not to laugh... It was having my cellphone on my desk! At least I think, I'll be back if that's not the case.....

I'm having the same problem, and this is the new 1.2 Ibook. It began to flicker after the 10.3.7 update, but I don't know if it was because of that.
I'll do the option thing and I removed the cell away. This sucks!
