Sorry for starting a new thread but im at work and in a rush.
could someone please tell me if Airport express will work with a dial up internet connection? Im only on 56k at home (broadband is to exy in australia). If it does it would be the bees bloody knees and a whole lot cheaper than the old airports to, oh and will i need a modem to plug into it or will the one in my powebook do? thanks everyone, gotta bolt.

Looking at the pics on the apple web site it doesn't have a modem. It plugs directly into the wall and has 3 ports. It has an ethernet port, a USB port, and an audio out port. I don't know enough about it yet but you may still find it useful, depending on what you want it for.

Wireless 56k??? I highly doubt they will make an investment in developing one. For one a bulk of customers who buy AirPort have broadband connection, and two the further you get away from your wireless basestation, the slower your connection becomes.
Based on experience with 802.11b routers I've played with, you rarely get the full 11Mbps, unless your notebook is literally inches away from your router. Move to the next room and you're down to maybe half, and even less further. Now assume you can even get the max 53k when you're wired, and then you are able to set up a wireless version to use on the otherside of your house, you'd be lucky to get half that speed.
I can definitely see the convenience of being able to go wireless with a 56k, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

You are getting the transfer rates confused. Airport Express is 802.11g, which has a max rate of 54 mega-bits-per-second. Let's say you get a more realistic 26 Mbps, and on the other side of house you get 13 Mbps due to distance. That's still about 250 times faster than a 53Kbps dialup connection. So whatever you get from the modem you will get from the wireless client.

doesn't look like it, but the old Airports look like they should serve your needs perfectly well, albeit in a somewhat more bulky way.
