Is this possible with a firmware hack? Or a hardware swap? I would really like 4x burning and my bro would like 2x dvd burning i wonder if i could purchase the 4x drive aftermarket, put it in and then put the 2x into my bro's titanium book?

Plausible idea? Stupid idea?

yes it is possible. I would be nervous to try it myself.

If I recall correctly, there is a forum a while back that had the link to the website that you can download the firmware from.

Do a search for superdrive firmware and you should find it.

If you got 2x burning on your 15" AL Powerbook then you did not get the newest model. Unless someone knows otherwise there is no hack to turn the ALbook's 2x burning into 4x. As for your bro's TiBook here is the websight that has the firmware hack. Read it carefully before taking the plunge. If care isn't taken during the firmware update then the superdrive can get damaged permanantly. http://superdrive.cynikal.net
