I have a discount from ADC. So keep this in mind lol.

Im having a hard time to deciding on which powerbook to buy. I am going to use this for mainly web/photoshopping/minor video editing (PCs dont have Final Cut pro) for family events

I do travel quite a lot during the school year and during the summer I only take my laptop when i DJ or am away from home for extended amt of time. (i have a athlon 3200+ at home for my file server)

These are my options I am debating with, help me pick out one. I just returned a 15" powerbook 1.25ghz 80gb since i got the 4 dead pixels and white spots...also i got a 512MB stick also laying around adding apple ram is not an issue.

I was thinking of getting the 1.33 12" powerbook with the 80gb HD + whatever the new 20" cinema displays are when they come out. so im gussing it should be around 2500$

another 15" 1.5 fully loaded 128 MB radeon/ 80gb 5400rpm and the 1 stick 512 +80$?!( i have a 512 stick here at home) the config is around $2,159.00 or without the superdrive 1999.00

or

17" powebook with 128MB radeon 9700 with the 80gb 5400rpm hard drive this config is at $2,319.00 or without the 6128MB video memory its 2279.00$

so the difference is 160 between the 15" and the 17"

also my factor is also the superdrive, I have a pc with a dvd burner
can final cut export to an burnable image like roxio? that would be great then i can downgrade the 15" to a combo drive

--most video editing i do is at home ( i already gave a 2001FP dell LCD but i might sell it and go for the new cinemas)
--usally when i actually take my laptop out i usally go to the caffe and either type my paper or work on my excel speadsheets + internet, minor photoshopping and i DJ at a nightclub using final scratch www.finalscratch.com

any combination or anything resulting less or around 2400-2500 would be great...im just really confused on which powerbook to get

If you travle a lot...I would NOT go for the 17.

Now personaly I've been using a TiPB and I don't find it portable enough...that is why I am upgrading to the 12". Yes the screen is bit smaller and all...but this issue can be solve with a nice external monitor while at home!

On the other hand...if you DO travel a lot and use alot your PB while traveling to do Video stuff and photoshop the extra screen that the 15 offers could be very useful...and you do get a bit better machine than the 12.

I would go for the superdrive never the less...I just think it is easier to burn the DVD on the PB than tranfering files to a PC which you never know how is it going to work. Anf also you could use iDVD on your PB to burn your videos.

Another thought is that if you DJ a lot on the go, you might want that 15" screen unless you use an external monitor while DJing.

It all comes down to what you use your computer for. I use mine for word, excell, internet, some engineering apps and at home some photoshop and video editing. But I love taking my PB with me to my GF the library and around. So that is why I want that 12" so much it could almost fit on my pocket! And I don't need the extra stuff that the 15 and 17 have. (unless a backlight keyboard..would be sweet on the 12)

On a side note...I had a hard time manipulating my TiPB on an Airplane... it did not fit on the tray table...good with I had that 12"

Well good luck deciding.

I have the 17" Booq Powersleeve, and it's definitely solid quality.

I just got the 17"... same situation as you... 17" was only like $125 (maybe $160) more than the 15". I too was worried about the extra size. My worries disappeared within hours of owning it. The extra space is awesome. The larger speakers are actually listenable.
