iPhoto doesn't want to work, any help?

My iphoto doesn no longer want to open anything. i click on it and it opens the program and then the waiting message "Loading photos" takes over the screen and nothing happens afterwords.
any help?

Try to repair disk and permissions with DIsk Utility.
