Good morning, all. MacNN newbie here.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a large, fast, yet quiet internal hard drive replacement for a PB G4 1.25Ghz. I've been having all kinds of speed issues and sounds coming from the hard drive. Last night while my wife was on, the book made a sound like the heads parked (like when you power down) and a single loud beep. It continued to run, but I of course proceeded to back up my iTunes and iPhoto libraries to DVD.

I'm pretty sure this thing is on its way out. Any recommendations on a high speed replacement?

Any 2 1/2 drive will work, provided it's no higher than 9.5 mm. Most are that size these days. So make your pick based on capacity, price, and RPM. I have a Hitachi 80GB 5400 RPM drive in mine and I like it a lot (http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_g...92/search=5k80). The Hitachi drives are very good. So are Toshiba and Fujitsu.

I'm about to put the 80 GB Hitachi 5400 RPM in my Ti Book. I have filled up the original 30 GB, something I never thought I'd do. But with digital video and photography (hobby only) the space just doesn't last.
