Hey guys I'm thinking of buying the lastest powerbook 12 inch and i've been searching the forum for a few days and i'm totally confused. I confused with different revisions "A" and "B". Also i read that the screen for the 12 inch is not that good?? Can you guys give me some pros and cons about the 12 inch?? I'm gonna mainly use it to carry it around and do school work...and maybe some minimal gaming...perhaps presentations too.
Thanks in advance...

Rev A is the original 867MHz with a Mini-VGA port
Rev B is the 1GHz model with the Mini-DVI port
Rev C is the current 1.33GHz model
The 12" screen is fine,I use my 12" PB as my main machine.

Mac people tend to be fussier than other computer users. In the words of a friend of mine, "Do you know why Apple made a laptop out of Titanium? Because only Mac people would care!"
I just bought a 12" 1.33GHz PB and the screen is just fine - but as letter-perfect as my 15" TiBook.
If you're truly a new Mac user, welcome to the fold of exceedingly high expectations from everything to paint color, hinge screws and cursor design.

Now that DVD-Rs are so cheap I like having the DVD burner for backups. CDs just don't hold much anymore

I just received my 12" PB Rev C, needless to say, my only complaint so far is that the left palm area get kinda hot after about 40mins normal using (typing documents).
This is my 2nd Mac (if you count the previous 14" iBook that I have for 4days before selling them for this 12" PowerBook)

I have a revision A 12" and I love it. I definitely would recommend the superdrive. It's a good feature. I'm actually burning a dvd and writing to this forum in class right now! LoL. Hope you pick it up. Had two friends who bought the Rev B 12" and say they will never go back to wndows

I also have a 12 inch. It's great if you are tight on space, It's also a great thing to pull out just about anywhere. My PowerBook suppliments my Upgraded G4 at home but I seem to use it more than my Desktop. Either way you'll love it. I sometimes regret not getting the SuperDrive.

pcgeek - the DVD drive would be useful for you only if you're archiving large files.
I have a dual G5 and it's - in my opinion - barely fast in buring DVDs for multimedia use. Using a 12" PB for that purpose is not in my imagination.
My opinion? Take the $200 you'd save in DVD and use it to buy more RAM.

lol, mac users are fussier when it comes to paint color, hinge screws and cursor design .. if only the power button is backlit green or blue in the recessed part of the button =P

I did not get the superdrive, my desktop as one. I think pound for pound the 12'' is a great value. The screen is clear, and the fonts are crisp. The keyboard on the PB rule. I type a lot of reports, and am very pleased with the PB over my iBook. If you don't have a Superdrive on any machine, then you may want to spend the extra money.

I plan on getting a new 12" PB within a month or two and won't be getting a SuperDrive either. The way I see it is I won't need to burn DVD's on the go and for much cheaper ($89CDN/$65USD) I can buy a good DVD burner for my desktop.
