Has anyone else noticed Al powerbooks getting hotter lately? I have a 1ghz Al pb and lately I feel like it has been getting hotter. I assume this could be due to recent OS updates but was wondering if any other users have been experiencing the same kind of situation.

Have you checked the temperature, my 12" is running a little hotter now a days but then again it is summer in Los Angeles so I guess that could account for it. Usually just normal run of the mill stuff gets me up 105º - 110ºF, gaming and such gets it up to its max at 140º - 145ºF. If you don't know how hot your PB gets, check out Temperature Monitor .

Just checked my temp. It's running at about 144 F. I dont really have a ton running either.

Lately I have been watching the activity monitor to see what is utilizing the CPU and frequently iChat is now hogging the CPU a ton! I just quit it and within the time it has taken me to write this the computer has dropped 4 degrees.

Sounds like iChat is the culprit.

Right now I'm running about 125 F.

I've also noticed that the USB port gets mad hot when I have my external USB drive hooked up.
