Big scare. HD in the Powerbook died, I thought. Took the keyboard off, blew on it, banged on it etc. Came back to life!!! I backed everything up (already had one but it was from May22nd).
Question is.... Is this a DIY thing (replacing HD) or better to just take it an Apple store. I know I’ll pay more but I don’t really have the time and if I could just walk in and they’d do it while I wait that would be great. Do they do this type of stuff at the retail stores? What will I pay for an 80gig 4200RPM drive? Thanks

im not sure about the price, but im pretty sure you need an apple guy to do it for you if you don't want to void your warranty.

From experience, the Apple store usually won't repair while you wait. That could also be because the only Apple store near me is the one of the smallest stores (They hardly have space to repair computers in the back).
