I have the Logitech Cordless MX Duo set (keyboard + mouse)
However I only want to use the mouse and not the keyboard (lack of desk space)
anyway so I have the usb connected only (not the mouse .. I don't think you need that)
and without installing the drivers it works at the most basic level
however once I've installed the drivers, something really strange happens
moving the mouse causes iMovie to load up!
And it starts up again once you quit and move the mouse again.
I'm sure nothing went wrong in the installation (pretty straightforward)
is it because I can't just use the mouse alone? Do I have to use the keyboard as well?
thanks for your help.

okay i installed usb overdrive ... must say it is COOL
what dpi should i be at? what about acceleration?
ODDITIES FIXED!!
Unfortunately I'm noticing two other little oddities ...
first when I normally press an arrow key (left/right) when the cursor is in a text line, it smoothly scrolls through each character (and fast too, depending on how fast you set it to repeat in the preferences) But when I try that in the posting window (as I am in now ... typing this message) the repeat rate is slower and very choppy .... not smooth anymore ... just wondering why that is
also a more frustrating glitch ... has to do with my mouse ....
when I try to select/highlight and paragraph with the mouse (click and hold and drag) its almost impossible to select/highlight what I want ... even though I'm still holding down the left mouse button it doesn't hold very well. Sorta sporatic (ex: I try to highlight a paragraph in this message, it's working for a sec, and then what I've highlighted so far de-hightlights and since I'm not done dragging the cursor around the paragraph, it starts to highlight again from where I am ... and etc ....)
hopefully you get what I mean ... its just impossible for me to highlight more than a paragraph
this happens in safari, entourage, word ... and prolly everything else
the weird thing is ... if i use the trackpad and its adjacent one button clicker it works great.
wonder what settings I should change
** okay I've noticed that if I drag really fast it works better ... so how do I turn down the speed? there is no speed limit when using the trackpad

I think I might have just fixed my mouse problem ... while i was in the preferences folder i noticed there were some files named logitech (must of been left over when i tried to install those logitech drivers ...) anyways I deleted all that and now ... cross my fingers ... i'm able to drag and drop and highlight and all that good stuff ... sweet
and the keyboard is working well now .....
i guess it must have been a conflict of settings? between usboverdrive and logitech ...

Not sure what you mean, as I only have the MX700 mouse, perhaps you have extra stuff.
Anyways I have not needed to load usb overdrive to get my mouse working. I'm able to use the LCC to assign the buttons and it has worked out of the box.
I have the wireless receiving unit which also charges my mouse's batteries when I have it docked inside it. This is connected to a usb and I have the mouse. Nothing more and as I mentioned worked right out of the box.

cool....
Last year, I bought the standalone MX700 mouse. It works pretty good under Jaguar. I sold it on eBay afterwards due to the mouse was kind of heavy.
Last week, one of my co-worker bought the Cordless Duo MX (same model as you do) for his new custom-build PC. However, he didn't buy the right case to fit his Athlon64 Gigabyte motherboard, so he put all the parts out on the desk. I asked him to borrow the MX700 mouse.
It works flawlessly on my PowerMac G4 with or w/o the Logitech driver under 10.3.4. I left the setting in default anyway..
