Hi all,

I am interested in purchasing an enclosure casing for my ex 17inch powerbook drive (4200rpm). I am looking for an affordable enclosure that can cater for USB and Firewire use. It seems that most of the enclosure items I have found comes with a Hard Drive. Can you buy the enclosure on its own?
Where is a good place to buy online for international shipping?

thanks.

I'm not sure about inernational shipping, but the products, support, and price are great at Other World Computing.

<http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Pa...amp;Template=1>

This model has FW 400 and USB 2.0. Other models have FW 4/800, etc.

I've purchased and have had clients get several of the $49 enclosures and everyone's happy. The more expensive Mercury to Go line are highly rated.

good luck

Hey im in the process of doin the same with my 17" PB (just waiting for my HD to arrive!)

These guys do great enclosures, http://www.macpower.com.tw/ just email them for your nearest stockist.

I think this one is the best! I got it (well the firewire only version) and it looks very nice. Even the grain of the aluminium matches the powerbook!

Meritline 2.5in USB 2.0 enclosure for $9.99__9:54_am

Meritline offers its 2.5-inch USB 2.0 enclosure for $9.99 via coupon code "IDS6OFF". It's the lowest price we've seen by a buck. Add around $5 for shipping. Offer ends July 4.

DVico momobay is great. USB/Firewire and completely made of alu with a leather case.
What do you mean with international shipping? To which location?

I have two of OWC's Mercury enclosures and love them. Easy to set up, very reliable, and OWC is a stand-up company.

Because they're FireWire connectable, you don't need the AC power adapter (which is included anyway) making them portable and universal. Great for storing big projects, backup, and for easy transfer of your old stuff to a new hard drive.

Hi all!

thanks for the great response. Dr. Michael, what I meant by international shipping is shipping to places like Australia. I know that some web stores you can only purchase within the US.

Reneb, what's your hard drive specs that you used with the enclosure? The OWC Mercury Express looks interesting, though Other World Comp. only recommend it for 4200 rpm 40GB hard drive in order not to use power adapter. My HD is 60GB.

M.A.S, the Daisy Cuttie looks great, though, I have yet to find an affordable dealer. Australian price is quite expensive.

Casper, unfortunately PDA Dan only supply USB enclosures.

Dr. Michael, can DVico momobay hold a drive like 4200rpm 60gb?

thanks all!
