hi all... i have a 12" rev.C Powerbook here that exhibits a weird symptom that my 12" rev.B did not... when you open the screen it seems very tight, and makes actual "pop" or "creaking" sounds as it opens... is this normal, or a common attribute on these models?
i'm hesitant to send it in to Apple repair because they tore up my iBook badly when it went in for logicboard replacement... if it is something they won't even fix i don't want to chance them scratching the unit up badly in transit. another thing i noticed, and not sure if this is related to the creaking or not, but the lcd screen seems 'sunken in' at the bottom right corner of the display, there is a gap there about 1mm deep where the screen does not touch the chassis... it looks flush all the way around except in this area.
any advice would be great, i am unsure whether Apple will fix these sorts of things or not..!

The noise is due to a hinge that is too tight. You definitely should get this fixed. If at some point, the hinge got tight enough, something could break; it would be a very bad thing if the LCD itself broke.
My luck with sending machines off to Apple is pretty good. I have, though, had some issues where Apple just totally fubars a machine. However, those are *very* few and far between. They hire new people too... and sometimes those new people aren't up to the job they applied for. It happens everywhere. They either learn quickly or leave quickly.
