i just got a new PB and usually get about 3+hrs with it. i thought the battery update was already installed, but it doesn't appear on the update history.

so, to anyone who installed it on panther, does it work? are the improvements, if any, prove to be significant?

also, i think i read somewhere that some people's battery actually got messed up after the update. is this true? tries a search, but couldn't find anything conclusive

thx.

What battery update are you talking about? If you have a new machine, you have all the latest updates already.

the one listed on the Apple site. it didn't get downloaded along with the initial software update upon first boot - there were about 11 of them. but i do have a new machine with 10.3.4. so maybe that particular update was included??

That update was released in December. It has long been incorporated into 10.3.3 and 10.3.4. Software Update is pretty smart. You'll never see old updates if they have been incorporated into new ones.
