Hey, I have an iBook 600 DVD which I used as my main computer until I got my Power Nac last year.

When I got the PM I lent the iBook to a friend who needed a computer. After getting it back the other day it would seem she didnt like it, and had only used it once, the rest of the time it sat in a drawer.

Now the battery will only hold about an hours charge. It used to be about 3 hours. Is there any way I can recondition the battery? I have tried charging, discharging, and recharging to no avail, though could it take a few cycles, or is my battery dead?

Sounds as if the battery is dying. You can try charging it and using Terminal to check its status.
Lithium ion batteries can degrade even when not being used.
