Hi all,

I got a call from Apple today, actually Apple customer service, this morning and they were asking about the my 15" 1.25 Albook, I got about 4 months ago (mind you when I got it I registered it online). They asked if I had any problems, is it my first mac, is it for personnel/biz use, etc. So I'm thinking they're taking a customer survey, and of course I'm happy to obliged coz
its Apple.

Then he ask why I haven't got AppleCare for it. I tell him I will eventually, and that price is kinda high, and I'm slowly saving up. He ask if I'd be willing to purchase it now if he drops the price to $239, plus he didn't charge me sales tax. After thinking for a second or two, I agreeded.

At first I was thinking this is a scam, but then he reads off my serial# and other info, which I didn't give him. Also I went to my credit card website to see if the transactions been processed, which it was and the description read:
purchase Apple Computer, Cupertino, CA.

Has this happened to anyone?

I have gotten calls from Apple in the past asking in the same fashion if I wanted to purchase AppleCare. Don't think it's a scam, just call up customer service yourself and ask to see if AppleCare was added to your system.
Are those free-ranged animal crackers?

Not a scam - I got a call, as did a friend of mine, about purchasing AppleCare for our iPods. Kind of annoying. I purchased AppleCare when I bought my PB but I don't think it's worth it for the iPod - I can replace the battery myself.

I think that's one of the few tellamarketers that I wouldn't mind. I personally think it's good that they call you to ask you about your product and about purchasing apple care. I wish some other companies would call me to remind me about my warranty and offer to extend it for a reduced price (although $239 is my edu price)!
