Well, I've had my LCD replaced three times now and it needs replacing again.

Last time I had my it replaced I called Apple and they said since it has been repaired three times, if I had the same problem again they would not repair the PowerBook. So sure enough, I go into the Apple Store and show the "genius" my problem, and he looks at my file and says he will order me a replacement PowerBook. I made sure replacement meant a new PowerBook, not a refurb. It will more that likely be a 1.3 replacement to my current 1.25 if they no longer have any 1.25 in stock (which I doubt). It would be nice if they would screw up the order in my favor and give me a 1.5.

Anyway, it's a shame I've had to go through all this, but I get a little bit of an upgrade.

It's good to see Apple stick behind their products.

Enjoy it. The Rev B 15" powerbooks have far less problems.

IMHO, you're more likely to get a 1.5 than a 1.33... They'll replace a Superdrive powerbook with a Superdrive powerbook.

It will be a 1.5Ghz (ok, well at least I assume it will be). I had a replacement for my 1.25Ghz ordered a day before the 1.5Ghzs were announced, and a week or so later I received a brand new 1.5Ghz G4! They haven't had any 1.25Ghz models for months, so that isn't possible unless it is a referb. And yes, they will replace it with a similarly equipped model (e.g. if you had a 1.25Ghz Superdrive, they're give you a 1.5ghz with Superdrive, or a 1.3Ghz would replace the 1Ghz) The keyboard on my 1.5Ghz is still slighly buckled and the latch requires much more effort than my last (although I think this is just mine). The positive is that when I first got it, the computer didn't seem to get as warm as the previous and the LCD hindge could almost be described as smooth, although still not as good as the 12" or 17". Enjoy it!

Well I still haven't reveived my new powerbook. I called the Apple Store on Tuesday to see where it was and they didn't know what I was talking about but finally found the records and reordered my replacement. They said it would be in on Thursday (yesterday). So it didn't come in and I call today and ask where it is, and they tell me everything is fine on their end and I need to call Apple Care and they can speed up the order. After an hour on hold, he ends up calling the Apple Store and they agree to give me a new one out of store so I don't have to wait any longer.

For my problems, they upgraded me to the 1.5 fromt he 1.33 (Apparently I was supposed to receive a 1.3 replacement instead of the 1.5)

Anyway, I hope this settles my problems. The guy I talked to on the phone gave me his contact info in case of any problems.

So I went to the Apple Store today and swapped my PowerBook. Everything is great with the display (so far). The only problem is I decided to look in the system profiler and looked up my hard drive model and it turns out its a 4200 RPM drive instead of the 5400 RPM drive that I had in my original PowerBook. I don't want to have to send my PowerBook in for "repair" but at the same time I don't want to wait an hour and a half in the store to copy my hard drive over again.

I contacted the Apple rep I spoke with so we'll see what happens.

I just got 12'' PB a week ago and it's awesome. The size is really attractive. Too bad the resolution isn't too high.
