I need help fixing my wifes lombard. Is not picking up internet connection via ethernet, have it cobfigured via tcp/ip manually and have all the info in the tcp/ip correctly but IE5 on OS 9.2.2 won't pick up a connection. Ok so I bought PCMCIA, installed it and now when I change to the adapter in apple talk it gives me an error. Exact error message when we try to choose the adapter in apple talk is "An error occurred attempting to use Ethernet, make sure your network connections are correct".
So I know is not the hardware outside the computer as I can connect to the internet on my pismo with all the same settings. so that pretty much counts out router and cable. Also I reinstalled open transport ect. I have lights on the PCMCIA ethernet. and lights at the router. The only thing that strikes me weird is the fact that apple talk will not let me choose the adapter and gives the above error. Anybody have any idea's?

Do the lights come on when you plug the ethernet cable into the built in ethernet? Do the lights come on when you plug it into the PCMCIA Card? If not, you have a hardware problem.

Did you install the drivers for the PCMCIA card? Are you running a new enough OS for those drivers? Does it show up in the Apple System Profiler?
