I'm thinking about getting a bookendz dock for my 12" pbook because I'm always having to plug it into everything when I get to my office. Is it worth it? How does it work? Do I still need to eject all my media before unplugging it or is there some sort of software unmount that works when I disconnect? Any suggestions would be a appreciated. TIA.

This has come up several times before...personally, I don't think they're worth the price. Yes, you still need to unmount any volumes before undocking, as that is a function of the OS regardless of how the connection is made.
I do not like those green links and spam.

Had a BookEndz dock both with my old Wallstreet and my current TiBook.

I work a lot at my desk/work station and when I had lots of peripherals, I wouldn't have wanted to be without one. Also, having a dock meant that I wasn't yanking connections out in a hurry and damaging the pins.

But, once I got Airport and had wireless ethernet and wireless printing, that was the tipping point. Also, I stopped routinely keeping my FW drives plugged in after the Panther FW bug.

So now, I don't mind plugging in my monitor, a USB plug and the power cord.

But again, if you've got lots of peripherals you use every day, it is very convenient.

Keep in mind though, that not only do you have to dismount all drives (which, as noted, is standard OS 10 practice) but BookEndz recommends that you shut down, now just sleep, your PB when docking and undocking.
