Hey,
First of all, sorry I did not reply in my other post about a deal of a Powerbook G4 15in for $1399 w/ all the free extras. The computer I used to post it with died out on me, Powerbook G4 12in. I was left with no computer. I'm posting this with a computer I borrowed from my dad lol
Well, I was a lucky person.. in a way. The Powerbook G4 12in had a hinge/heat problem where if I were to use the computer for at least 30mins, the screen would get very tight. Moving the screen will make popping sounds from the hinge. I was about to send it in and then Apple decided to replace the machine for me. (It would have been its 3rd repair)
I paid $950 to upgrade from the Powerbook 12in 867mhz to the Powerbook 15in 1.5ghz Laptop.

The Specs:
PBG4 15/1.5/1024/80G/SD/AP/BT/LL
Part No: Z0A304G3Z
Processor PowerPC G4 128MB VRAM
1.5 GB DDR333 SDRAM (1gb + 512)
80GB Ultra ATA Drive@5400rpm
Super Drive (DVD-R/CD-RW)
Country Kit/AirPort Extreme
BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS

Well, it finally shipped out this morning. It was ordered last Friday.
But, with my luck, the package is stuck in Shanghai, CH because a "Delay beyond our control"
The weather was bad so the plane will not go out till tomm! They date of delivery is delayed, will now be on Friday, July 23, 2004. !!
Has that ever happened to anyone before?
In a way, its one day before my birthday so it would be a great birthday present!! lol

Anyways, what can I do till Friday when the Powerbook gets delivered? hehe
Does anyone have any reviews/comments about the Powerbook G4 1.5ghz 15in? Does it have the defects like the white spots, uneven backlight, the slot of the cd drive warping, the computer not sitting flat, etc?

I'll keep you updated and take pictures of the computer when it arrives I might even write a review comparing my old 12in (gone) with the new 15in (arriving soon...)

Thanks again, Paul
P.S Sorry for the long post

Ouch. $950 to go from a small laptop to a big one? I hope the difference was worth it.

Congrats man, and hope you enjoy it!

Hey thanks
Yeah, I purposely went for a large screen. lol

I think I will need a large screen for my health and the usefulnesses. The iMac 17in my friend has makes Mac OS X so much easier to see and read. Sometimes I noticed my eyes get tired sooner using the laptop than using my friends iMac. I do not use glasses yet, but everyone else in my family does and I do not want them My eyes are still good though, hehe

Another reason is that the graphics are better and a bit faster. Also a coolness factor is the backlit keyboard

I just hope it would be more reliable than my Rev A 12in. I'm soo excited.. still sitting in China. lol

thanks -paul

I used to not have glasses while everyone in my family had them. One day I finally decided to get my eyes checked and noticed that my vision was quite blurry and that I was squinting all the time. I got glasses and all those problems went away and i'm able to use a 12" powerbook all day without any problems. You should go get glasses, they are quite usefull even if you can read without them. Just be sure to get ones that look decent and not the huge kinds that cover your face.

As it is I still have the best vision in the family (somewhere around 20/25 in my right eye and 20/35 in my left).

Hey dude....I am in the same situation. My Fedex tracking page still says shipping on the 22nd. It left the Memphis facility at 3:38am this morning. And the Fedex lady too said the 22nd. So maybe yours will arrive today too!

In the mean time, start looking for a nice case for your shiney new Powerbook. In the past, I have gone with the nice sleevecases, but they do not offer adequate protection for the aluminum structure of the current Powerbooks. Spend a little more and get a hard case. I have dropped every Powerbook I have owned, so I am not taking any chances this time.

I am also going to the Apple store to get a new iPod if they have them. I am stoked they went back to the old design without the 4 buttons.

I ordered the MacTruck from this outfit called Radtech (www.radtech.us) and it is really nice. Also bought the bluetooth mouse from them.

Also think about AppleCare or Safeware. I am going the Safeware route since they cover liquid spills and drops, which AppleCare does not.

Get a keyboard cover too. And maybe a podiumpad or some other kind of laptop riser for the PB to sit on. These babies get hot. I had a 17" and the only issue I had with it other than the slot-load drive sometimes not ejecting a disc was the heat during gameplay or other fan-running operations.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the 15" does not have the screen issues.

Enjoy the new machine!

Hey,
The Powerbook G4 15in arrived today at 11:13am. I installed my extra 512mb (DDR2700) from my Powerbook 12in and have a total of 1.5gb of RAM. I had to open it to check for defects and flaws No dead pixels or problems so far..knock knock.. (running Apple Hardware Test) and took pictures. lol
After the test its going back to the box till my Birthday on Sat. hehe

Got mine shortly after.......

It is great. No dead pixels, no problems whatsoever. I am very impressed with this machine. The keyboard feels a little different than my previous 17". I can't really place it, just has a different texture or something.

Got the cinema display today. Was bummed it did not come in an outer box like the Powerbook.

Here are some pics:
