Howdy Mac brothers and sisters !!!
Can anyone advise me on the best way to go about upgrading my RAM memory? I use an Ivory iBook, G3 800mhz, 256RAM, 30G HD, OSX.2.8 Recently, my iBook has begun to run rather sluggishly. Now out of the 30G in my Hard Drive I have 13G available. I am wondering if it is the fact that my HD is filling up or is it that I need more RAM. I'd like to know what, where and how to upgrade the RAM. I hear that I can only get 512MG more RAM. I have 128 built in so that pumps it up to 640MG RAM. Is there any way to tweek that even higher? any and all advice/info/guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Peace,

You might get more replies by posting this in the iBook forum instead of the Powerbook forum. However, I'm farily certain that even though apple quoted your machine with a max ram cap of 640mb that you can indeed upgrade with a 1gb stick for a total of 1024+128 = 1152mb of solid ram power... lol. However, as I'm far from an iBook expert, I would need someone else to confirm this!

Man, you are music to these ears. Sorry for posting in the wring area. Wont happen again. Well not until I get a new G5 powerbook. That's a litlle while off yet. Boy, if I am glad that I put the word out here because I was thinking the same thing. If a 1G single stick SODIMM RAM memory exists for other powerbooks then why not mine? The issue on mine seems to be the fact that I only have one slot for a memory stick to go into. Hence, before the max RAM that was available was 512MG but now, they produce 1G RAM in one stick. I do hope that it si feesible for me to install a 1G RAM stick into my iBook G3, 800mhz 256RAM, 30G HD. Any more advice on this would be greatly appreciated. I am not going to buy until I get all the facts. I wan to get the max RAM I can install. Thanks.
Peace,
