Has anyone used this site yet. They charge $0.01 per megabyte for songs. So its like $50 for 5 gigs of music. The service lets you compress the music to any bit rate that you want. Just wanted to know if anyone one else used this before and how the experience was. I would try but the paypal option is down right now and I dont trust a russian company with my Credit Card number.

1) Wrong forum.

2) The russian company deals with a credit card company as an intermediary, so you're safe on that score.

3) I've used it, no problems.

4) Their selection kinda sucks. If you're not into rap/rock, don't bother.

This isn't exactly piracy, because it's allegedly legal in Russia, but I can guarantee you they're doing it without the consent of the record labels or the artists. So really, you are still stealing form the copyright owners, or more exactly, the people who own that website are stealing from the copyright owners.

So technically, it is piracy. I'm no fan of the big 5 record labels (down to 4, now after yet another mega-merger) but there's just no way to see this as a good thing for music, in general.

Support your local, independent artist, by giving them the price they need to make a living.
