looking to take advantage of the powerbook/ipod purchase deal. What are the chances of a speed bump from 1.3 to 1.5 happening before the expiry of the "cram & Jam" sept. 25 deadline???

Slim to none. I think Apple is going to ride the current line of PowerBooks through the end of 2004.

I'd have to agree, your maybe looking at another speed bump early next year or at the earliest Dec. of this year, but I have to say that I think Apple will have the G5 in the powerbook in the next bump, but that's just speculation.

Dont think it will happen....The next PB will most likely be a G5 in early-mid 2005.

Dont think you would even notice the speed difference between 1.33 and 1.5 if there was another G4 anyways.

It is a pretty smokin' deal. I just took advantage of it this past weekend, and I couldn't be happier. I've had an iPod for about 2 years, but this new one is really cool. Oh yeah, and the 12" Powerbook is pretty ok too, haha. Just kidding it rules and weighs half what my dell does.

Also the 1.3 is still pretty fast, or should I say it hasn't choked on me yet. I don't really think that waiting for an increase of 166MHz is worth waiting for. So my advice is the same as everyone else, just buy now you won't regret it.

The thing you have to keep in mind is that Apple is always going to continually introduce new and better products. If its not a revision, then its a brand-new tech-toy. If you only lust after what's ahead, and don't settle down eventually, you are gonna die before your dream machine becomes available.

Buy the best you can afford now, and you can always sell and upgrade later. I still say that you should wait till rev. B before buying the new G5 PBs....though I strongly believe there is another G4 cycle to go through before the introduction of said G5 PB's.
