I am trying to use this app that is currently available to overclock my video card on my 12" 867. Problem is that I have 10.3 installed and the .kext file is for 10.2 I think. This is the actual website

http://67.163.88.215/overclock/mbtoolkit.html

However, the author doesn't support Geforce4 420 MX, I need to flash my video card but don't have the tools. Could someone with the same Powerbook and 10.2 flash their ROM according to the instructions posted on his site and forward the ROM to the author. He will then proceed to add support for our cards. I wish I could overclock my processor too, scared it would burn up my book.

Sheesh... isn't your 867 hot enough already?! Loco, man.

We're mac users, remember? "Overclock" isn't in our vocabularies.

You must not have seen this commercial

I don't think overclocking a Geforce4MX would provide a significant performance increase. It's a really slow card and this is the first time I've come across someone who wanted to overclock a MX card.

Theres also no way to provide more cooling to the card and overclocking an already heat prone laptop just seems nuts. Without additional cooling, you're stuck to making only small changes in clock speeds which will provide little to no performance and possibly create stability issues.

BTW, minimum system requirements for Generals is a 1Ghz CPU, so perhaps that is the problem.

So you want someone to try to flash there video card and if it fails have a giant paperweight. If you want to play games buy an xbox.

I have to say this was pretty funny asking someone else to muck up their computer for a few extra frames if that.

Edit: if this is so important to you, why don't you downgrade to 10.2, flash your drive give him the rom and upgrade back to Panther. or better you just stay at 10.2 and use the kext file that doens't work with panther.

So in order for you to play command and conquer, i should flash my powerbook's video bios, thereby voiding my warranty and transforming my computer into a toaster? Sounds like a deal...

10.3.5 has new NVidia drivers... perhaps you should just wait and see.

I see the point now. I didn't even think flash a VCard would void a warranty. I concede...I am stoopid. And I wasn't trying to muck up anyones comp.

hmm overclocking a video card on a mac....well ive done it
using a program i downloaded (i forgot were) i overclocked my flashed Xtasy Radeon 9100 64MB PCI card from the stock 250/250 to 285/275. This is on my B&W 450mhz, 1GB ram. lol ...i couldnt tell the difference. feels the same. must be the CPU. it feels 'a bit' more responsive on games like RTCW, but otherwise not much difference. maybe if upgrade this to a 1ghz G4 or a 1.1ghz G3 i might see something. on the other harnd on the PC when i overclocked my 9800 pro from 380/340 to 450/390 you could easily see the diffrence! specially in games with AA, AF turned on all the way, but again this is on a Athlon64 3000+ system :-D
" pc's feel cheap like a dirty whore..."
