Hi there. On the verge of a purchase of a 12" 1.33 PB and am debating RAM.
My question is about what performance boost one would get from adding 512M to the base vs 1G to base 256M? I would characterize my planned use for the PB as mild-moderately intensive. I would be using Photoshop for non-intensive picture editing as well as word processing and powerpoint. No need for gaming performance or video editing.
In my case is the price jump ($200-400 depending on seller) worth it?
I too have come to this dilema and I use the same program you do- I would go with the extra RAM if you have the money. Why because you can leave programs running in the dock and not have worry about page-outs but if your the type of guy who after using a program closes it and uses the same 3-4 programs every day you'll be fine with less RAM.

Getting the 512mb upgrade should be sufficient for mild-moderate intensive tasks. If the poster is considering serious photoshop, then the next consideration is an external monitor.
