Lately my Powerbook has started to get a red hue when ever it "wakes up". It hue disappears fairly quickly and the screen looks fine.

I assume something is about to go south here.

Is it a Pismo or Lombard?

The backlight tubes in some of those seem to do the pink-on-warmup thing you described (I have seen it before).

Replacing the backlight tubes would probably fix the problem.

It's a powerbook G4 1Ghz (superdrive).

I thought it might be a issue with the lighting.

Not sure if this is helpful, but my wife's Dell Inspiron 5000 does the exact same thing, and has for 2 or 3 years now. The hue disappears quickly and it's still going strong.

Since that Dell was made about the same time as your Pbook (I'm guessing), it might have been something with LCDs of the era. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I won't do anything until it completely dies then. If it holds on for another year it will be time to upgrade anyway.
