This is just a quick question...

I know that many people buy SuperDrives, even though many of you don't need to burn DVD's on the go, and could just have easily bought an external DVD burner. What motivated you to go with the slower, soon-to-be-outdated, and more expensive SuperDrive?

I'm curious, because I still can't figure out if I want it .

I guess a major factor is that you can only burn DVDs through iDVD on a SuperDrive, not an external DVD-R.

-I don't know if you can export from iDVD to a disk image or something you can burn in another app.

Here goes, anyway.

1) I bought it because I want as few cumbersome external devices as possible -- I really value all-in-one solutions when traveling or sitting on the couch.
2) I didn't consider speed because I don't use it that much, and I don't care if it takes me 15-20 minutes or so for the rare times that I want burn a full-4.7GB.
3) Backups- the more redundant media the better...
4) Not having to worry about iDVD workarounds should I ever want to use it seriously.

All the above are totally true and valid, but...

5) Ah hell, I'll be more forthcoming and fully honest. I also bought it because I'm horrible with waiting for massive online purchases to arrive at my house, and I wanted everything else on the 1.5 GHz model, so I bought it in the retail store.

(Plus, the clerk goofed and gave me an extra $100 off----- I was too excited about the PB to notice the mistake until I got home-- seriously!)

I purchased my PB in march and decided Not to get the Superdrive. i already had an external burner, so why spend the money I thought. then I needed to make a dvd just last week. boy did i have a rude awakening, I didn't know the external issues with iDVD or DVD Studio Pro. But have since found I can build a DVD in DVD Studio and "build" to my Hard Drive and use toast to burn the disk. so all is well again
