There was a thread a while ago about cracks spontaneously appearing in iBooks, but it seems to have died. There's also a new one on the Apple discussion board now. According to one poster, it's a fairly common problem, at least on the opaque G3 and G4 iBooks. Is Apple known to fix this? According to some posters, if you take it to repair they'll just claim it's the result of abuse (hard to disprove in this case).

I don't know about the others, but I have given up. It takes too much time to quarrel with the people at OfficeLine, Oslo (my local dealer), and the crack hasn't become worse. I'm writing my master thesis this autumn, so I can't be without the computer for all the weeks it will take for them to look at it. They also tried to charge me over $100 for looking at the ibook, so it's a pain in the ass, to say the least.
