Is this even possible? I'd like to be able to use my mac to surf the web in remote locations with the help of my phone's modem.

If it's Sprint PCS service you can, not too sure about other carriers. You will need to obtain the modem connection cable. You will not get very fast speed but acceptable for basic email.

The only way to do this is with a third party program called Wireless Modem (http://www.notifymail.com/palm/wmodem/). However, I can't really recommend this program since the developer sells it with no support and many people (including myself) have had problems with it.

wait for the upcoming (septempber) Treo "ACE"... this model will have bluetooth (along w/ a 320x320 screen, wi-fi expansion, better audio/mp3 support) and will be great for connecting to PB's via bluetooth for wireless GPRS sessions... i'm in line w/ money in hand..!

This is the first I've heard of this.

Where can one find additional information?

- PowerMac G5 - Dual 2.0 Ghz, 3GB, Soundsticks!,

Look in the discussions section of the www.treocentral.com website.

I think the September date is unrealistic. The earliest we will see this is October in my opinion for Sprint, and probably November or later for GSM providers. And while providing bluetooth support as a modem (which I certainly hope they do) is possible and a rational thing to do, since this is just a rumor it's not certain it will have this capability.

I have been using a product called PDANet. Unfortunately it is a Windows based product. You connect your standard sync USB cable from the Treo to your PC laptop and it seemlessly connects your laptop to the net using your normal Treo wireless connection.

Possibly writing the the maker of the product might get them to consider a Mac version. PDANet is searchable on sites such as palmgear.com.
