Recently I ordered ram from crucial now I think I may have ordered the wrong ram I selected a 1 gz model and I have a 1.07 , is there a way to make this ram work? or am I screwed? or does it not make a difference and I'm just not putting the ram in correctly? when I put it in I can still see the gold stripes sticking out of the side?

Unless I'm just not seeing it correctly, you've ordered the right ram for a 1ghz G4 iBook. The 1.07 ghz your machine is showing (is that what system profiller shows?) is a non issue: that is a 1 ghz machine. So unless crucial sent you the wrong part, it should work just fine.

I assume you followed your iBook manual's instructions for installing ram so you should be putting it in correctly. If you're not, get the manual out and follow it. Installing memory isn't real difficult, but following the instructions are very important. Since I can't look at your ram to see what you see, I don't know if it is in correctly or not. Sometimes you can still see the contacts (gold stripes) and that's no biggy as long as the ram is seated all the way and the locking pins (whatever they are called) have snapped into place.

good luck

I installed some ram in my 12" G4 yesterday. You just follow the manual - slide it in at a 30 degree angle and then push down until the metal clips click onto it. Then just boot it up...

Just like the other guys said, there is no such thing as a 1.07Ghz iBook, or at least according to crucial. Marketing guys call it 1Ghz, although your system profiler may say other wise. You're never screwed. Why? Because you can return the memory or sell it on eBay. Stop freaking out. Just as the other guys said, you need to push the memory in so that the gold pins aren't showing when the card is at a 30?angle. You can then push the card down the whole way. I own a powerbook, but the memory and installation is basically the same. I took some pics with my horrible camera phone (the Sony Ericsson's T610 is awesome, the camera is not) to try and help you:

The way it is supposed to look when finished:

The way it the memory is supposed to look when pushed in at 30?:

This is how it would look if you did not completely push the SODIMM in at 30?:

i think your looking at the wrong part in the "about this mac" box. i just bought a 1ghz ibook and it too reports the processor as 1.07 ghz. The question is, How much memory does your ibook say you have?
15" Macbook Pro 1.83 2 GB RAM
Blackbook 13.3 Powerhouse 2 GB RAM
MacMini Dual Core 2 GB RAM (Sadly running Windows Most of the time)
Numerouse Workstations running windows and Linux. Sorry don't have the specs, I don't pay much attention to them anymore. :)
