Hey everyone. I have a friend that in the last few weeks just picked up a brand new 1GHz iBook G4. The computer works extremely well, except for one thing: sleeping. When the computer is woken up from sleep it takes a full 30 secs - 1 minute to have the cursor reappear and begin to start using the computer again. Calling Apple for repair did nothing as they said this was "normal", although I know its not. Waking up from sleep should be an instantaneous action. Any thoughts as to why this is happening and what may help fix the problem?

Just an idea... how much RAM does the machine have?

ACSA 10.4/10.3, ACTC 10.3, ACHDS 10.3

256 MB ... that shouldn't be the problem though since other machines that have 256 and are the same specs have no problem with this

Look at this ..

Try these energy saver settings ..
Preferences/Energy Saver
"Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for" .. at Never
Check "Put the hard disk to sleep when possible".

Reference:
Apple - Pauses when waking - change energy saver settings

If that doesn't work ...
Delete Power Management Prefs
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist.

Lastly ...
Reset PMU PowerBook and iBook

Tiger 10.4.8
