Greetings,

I am having an issue with my iBook that someone might be able to help me with. The computer was working fine yesterday when I left work, when I got back this morning the computer was not in sleep mode as it is usually.

I powered it back up (got the little music tone) but the screen remained black. When I plug the power adapter into the iBook while it is off, I receive the amber charge indication. However, as soon as I press the power button the amber light goes to green, yet still nothing comes on the screen -- totally black.

I also connected it to a external video source and nothing happened as well - secondary monitor did not display anything (thinking it might be the LCD).

Anyway, is there any help one can provide on this subject? It is a iBook 700mhz w/combo drive / 256MB ram / 14" Display.

It would be my opinion if the hard drive was bad, the screen would atleast turn grey and give an error message - so maybe a bad video card? I also tried command c at boot up, but nothing as well.

Thanks for any help.

There is a *known* issue with G3 ibooks and their video problems. Check your serial number and see if it falls in the range for Apple to replace your logic board.

This JUST HAPPENED to mine before I updated to 10.3.5. I'm majorly bummed to be sold a machine they *know* has a problem and hope I don't have it before their *warranty* is up.

Good luck.

Additionally try zapping the pram by restarting holding command-option-p-r and keep holding while it cycles through a couple of bongs. I had a G4 iBook not start up on me once and that solved the problem - which was black screen and nothing else.

Cheers
