I have a 700 G3 12" ibook that seems to have died. It was in sleep mode (light was blinking), I plugged in a usb memory stick and opened the cover. The blinking light stopped and no activity from the Ibook. Removed memory stick and Power switch had no effect (held greater than 5 sec). Plugged in the power adapter and only amber ring and no power on by pressing the switch. Battery also full.

Has anyone seen this problem ? (Definitely not plugging the usb stick into anything else to see if that "killed" the ibook)

With luck it will be your logicboard.

( I'm no tech however, as you may have realised from the "slap it" advice )

If you have another Mac with firewire try booting the ibook into target mode and see if you can get it at least to mount onto the other computer. If it cant even do that then you might try calling Apple and tell them the problem, maybe it is the logic board.
