i have a new 14" ibook but i want to record using garage band with my guitar but there is no mic input place for my cord, or is there?

USB audio input is the only way to go I think. I don't know of any good ones though or what to suggest.

I really like the Tascam US-122 for bringing in audio via XLR or line-in. That's not pocket change, and it depends on what you want to do. But the US-122 has nice, if basic options; enough control to give you some options and get some solid quality. There you go, yahoo for Tascam.

I use the griffin iMic. It works pretty good, you shold check it out.

On my powerbook i use the line in jack right next to my audio out jack to record my guitar in garage band. it rules - just get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter thing from radioshack. Keep on rockin' in the free world!!!

Theres no line in on the iBook, thats just a powerbook feature (wish it was on the ibook though)
