Well.. I bought this iBook back last December (december 02).. and it had a year warranty.. about 1 month before the warranty expired the screen hinge showed faultiness and I sent it back. The problem was fixed, but apparently not for long. Over the past month I have watched my iBook's hinge deterioriate to the point where the screen is unusable, and it goes black at a 5 degree angle or more.

Do you think they will still honor my warranty? (despite it being only a year long) They obviously didn't fix the problem in the first place.

If not, I guess this is my last Apple purchase.

You can try...if you're near an Apple store show it to the genius. I'm of the opinion that all portables need extra warranty coverage (AppleCare). It's saved me several times.
BTW, hinge problems are not specific to Apple, I have a Dell laptop barely over a year old that the screen won't even hold itself up anymore.
MacBook 2.0 160/2GB/SuperDrive
Lots of older Macs
