Yesterday I tried playing some .mp4 movies on my sisters iBook (G3) and the movie would play very poorly on quicktime. The video would stop and the sound would go ahead it was impossible to watch the video. I wonder what happend cause a few months ago I played .mp4 on the iBook and they played fine...but now it is impossible to view them. At the moment she is running 10.3.4 and before (few months ago) probably 10.3.2....does this have to do with this poor preformance?

I haven't had a chace to work on the computer more...but I was thinking to updatre to 10.3.5 and running cocktail and MacJanitor. Any other ideas are welcome.

Thanks.

what kind of iBook is it? I know for big mpeg4 video, the 3ivx codec is way faster than Apple's on my 500mhz iBook.. Try to install the 3ivx codec and see if it helps.
Also, make sure Energy saver settings are not set to 'reduced processor speed' (it's probably the case, at least for battery power which may explain why it's slow).

First THANKS for the reply! I posted this like on 3 forums since this morning and you are the first to reply.

I did check the energy saving seting and it was set to reduced but I change it and it was still way to slow.

It is a 800MHz G3 iBook. That is a good suggestion about the 3ivx cause I used that to make the movie.

Thanks.

Have you tried VLC? It's a fantastic cross-platform player I use on both my PowerBook and my PC.

Voch
