My venerable TiBook 1Ghz has been acting really weird lately, and finally it wouldn't start up past the dreaded gray screen. I recently made a backup (phew) but I can't even erase the damn disk! I start up with the Panther Disks and Disk Utility sits for about 20 minutes saying "Gathering Disk Information" before my hard drive shows up. When trying to erase it, it thinks for a second and then says "Disk erase failed. Error -20."

Think my HD is toast??

That's the same thing my Ti 667 did when the HD took a dump. And yesterday, my 15" AL 1.5 G did the same thing.

I'm taking heat for it from my pc using sig other.

Bummer, I'm going to go see the Genius tomorrow. Problem is I have to be back in NYC on Sunday (I'm in Boston for the week). I don't know if they're going to be able to get it done that fast... it should just be a HD swap. Gonna run me up a big bill I'm afraid...

Disk Error -20 appeared when i tried to format the disk on battery.. once the power line was attached, the disk could be formatted without problems
