I have my own ALbook, but when using my brother's Tibook, i always thought the track pad seemed sticky, he lent it to me for a few days, and I realize that it used to be normal (much more like mine) but the center of his slows your finger down, thus feels sticky)

Can this be fixed by apple care? (yes it is covered under an apple care plan)

How old is said brother? Stickiness runs rampant at a certain age. Apple wont fix cosmetic issues but if the trackpad stops working thats a whole nother story (ie. you could take it in if its broken but if it works and "feels sticky" then your chances of getting it fixed for free are slim to none, but it never hurts to try).
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

I clean my TiBook with a soft cloth and a *tiny* bit of soap and a *tiny* bit of water when the touchpad or the keys get greasy. Be careful to not get the PowerBook wet, though...just use enough to clean the surface a little bit.

he is 20, i actually dont think there is something on top of the trakpad, you can actually see its shiny, as if the coating of smooth paint wore off the pad in the center where used most

Oh...sounds like the trackpad is actually messed up, then. I'd call Apple and explain it to them and they'd probably take care of it...they took care of my piddley loose power connector in two days.

I'd still give it a good (but gentle) scrubbing. My trackpad has been used for almost a year and a half now with no problems unless it gets greasy...then I clean it and all is fixed.
