Well I finally got the keyboard open, but looking at the directions, the wire holder looks much bigger and I thought I would have an easier time opening it. But I couldn't find a way, so I come to you guys.
What's the best/only way to flip the flexible wire holder than holds down the Airport Extreme card? Where should I try to lift it up, from the middle or the sides? Thanks for the help

Instructions PDF
My iBook only has regular Airport so I dont know exactly how the Extreme surrounding operates.
Look at the wire holder and find where it is pivoted and where it is held in place (it looks like it clips into the surrounding metal at its sides) and then bend it (not so much that it buckles) to get it free.
That doesn't make much sense but I don't know how to explain it properly through text.

yes I have that PDF saved both on my PC and iBook, but it doesn't really give the best instructions or pictures on how to take the wire off.

I was cautious when I was doing my airport extreme. I just read the instructions from the book that came with my iBook. The only advice I can give is just follow the instructions closely and use good judgement. Unless your acting careless, you won't break it.

If it's any concilation I've done the procedure about 100 times (airport as opposed to airport extreme), and it seems that everytime I've needed to use a different technique.
Haven't broken anything yet, however.

The little wire holder is very flexible, and you'd have to work at it to break it. You'd also have to work pretty hard at breaking anything around where it goes, so don't be too timid.
I've used small pliers and hemostats with good success. By the way, you may find it easier to just pull one end out of its recess and then remove the whole thing while you put the card in; that worked pretty well for me.

I had a terrible time putting that thing in on mine. It was so tight it was almost impossible to push down there. I ended up bending the edges so it went in easier. One side went in nice, the other side is still sort of just wedged in. I've seen friends iBooks where the metal tab closes smoothly and clicks right in. Every computer is different I guess.
I wouldn't be too worried about breaking anything around there, there's not much you can do. That metal bracket isnt super important either, just makes sure the card never wiggles loose or anything.

Mine was a real pain. No matter what I did I could never get it to sit flush so I've actually taken mine out. The airport card is in snuggly and will never come out (unless you drop the computer, but then you have other things to worry about).
I installed RAM in a friend's 12" G4 and it just snapped in. Anyway, it doesn't really matter if you leave it in or not.
