I'm about to order a 12" 1.33GHz PowerBook, and I've been told by the tech person at my business, who's been dealing with someone with a 15" model, that she's been told that something approaching 50% of the logic boards are having problems....has anyone heard of a rash of people with the new PBs having logic board problems?

Is this a reason, in your opinion, to hold off ordering?

Feedback! I need feedback!!

i would go ahead and order it. its very doubtful that 50% have logic board problems.

i doubt apple would ever release something with a 50% failure rate, especially now revision C is out.

I certainly can't speak for the 50% failure rate, but I did have to have the logic board replaced on my 15" 1GHTZ Alum.

Epidemic? Don't know. Bad enough for me? Of course!

Good Luck.

In my group, we have purchased 2 15" Al PBs, 4+ 12" PBs, 1 PB17, a batch of TiPBs (6, I think), and several iBooks. The only one that has needed a logic board repair was the iBook iteration with its known logic board fault (see link on Apple's web site).

A recent consumer reports rating lists Apple notebook computers as having the best hardware reliability in the industry.

I would not be concerned about purchasing a current 15" Al PB.

It would be a glaring problem if it was 50%, I am sure he is embellishing. Fear not, new Apples are pretty safe to purchase.
