I ordered a 15" PB today to replace my 800-MHz G3 iBook, which is being shipped to Apple to have the dreaded logic board replaced. (I was hoping that the issue would pass over me, but I guess I'm like an Egyptian on this one. :-P) Wish me luck! In the mean time, I have a quick question for you Mac gurus.

When I receive the PB, I want to transfer all of my data and settings from the iBook to the PB. How would I most efficiently do that?

Thank you for your assistance and answers.

Have fun... Tony.

I went from an iBook G4 to a PB 17 last week. The PB asked if I had a previous Mac and if so to plug it into the FW connector. I hooked up my FW external where I had used CarbonCopyCloner to create a bootable copy.
About an hour later, it was done and only a few things were different from my previous setup (I had to reinstall APE).
Spent a little more time consolidating the new apps, reran F10 to include the new goodies and finally repaired permissions after making sure there was nothing new to update.

Enjoy.

don't replace the system files...
copy your user folder...you should probably re-install custom apps.

target disk mode.
a firewire cable between the 2 books.
the powerbook is on,
boot the ibook holding the "t" key down.
drive should mount on the pb.

move files as needed.
