Has anyone tried to burn a DVD using iTunes and a Superdrive (in one of the 17" powerbooks) pulling data off an iBook connected via the Firewire port?

A friend has the 17" powerbook and will be burning backups of 20 gigs of music currently on my iBook. I know that iTunes can burn DVDs with local files, but I'd like to know if I'll have to copy all the data from my computer onto my friend's machine first. It seems it should work, since Firewire disc mode makes the iBook act just like any other firewire disk, but it would be good to know more before I get over there this weekend.

I don't see why not. The only potential problem would be the slowness of the iBook's hard drive since it's only 4200rpm (or is it 5400?). If you get buffer underruns, burn more slowly or copy the files over to the iMac's faster hard drive.
