I just noticed, while I was playing around with the battery meter and timer.. I was on the bed running the battery and seeing how the battery timer (the thing that shows how much time you got left in the battery at current settings) affects the brightness. I put it down all the way until the display turns "off" and then I looked closely and yup, I can still see the screen. I was even able to move the cursor like normal and check the battery timer, and i saw it was like 6:30 left ... and I didn't even wait a while for the timer to adjust. maybe its just me but has anyone else noticed this? was i just oblivious? I know that you can't really use the display with it totally black but i thought it was cool.

I once used my iBook for a solid half-hour with the screen brightness at zero bars. It all depends on the angle of otherwise intrusive sunlight you can get...

Turn the brightness all the way down in a dark room, then shine a torch on the Apple symbol on the lid

same thing happens when the sun is going down and you are facing it.

No one ever said the screen turns off. And why would it? Even you described it as "brightness all the way down."
